Joanne Yulan is a contemporary artist based in London. She studied at Edinburgh School of art and completed her postgraduate MA at the Royal College of Art, London in 2001.
Her abstract paintings are reflections on positive and negative spaces inspired by ancient calligraphy from the far east and the much more modern aesthetics of 20th century western abstract expressionism. She works in various media often mixing traditional mediums such as inks and oil paint together with varnish and wood stains as she experiments with texture and surfaces.
The painting is presented in a bespoke linen lined box frame. The step frame profile is made from oak, with charcoal polished finished sides and a silver leaf face detail. Glazed with anti-reflective glass.
